22nd-23rd May Weekend race report: Round 2 points series: Chris Nicholson cup 34k hill climb and Mt Isobel challenge.

Unfortunately due to family commitments I couldn’t do this race, but I’d have to say this would have been the first year that I would have loved to do it!  Ask  me why I love hill climbing now – it’s not a secret (I’ll just have to wait until the next hill climbers race to prove that I can actually go better up hills!).

Results:

A  grade: Ian Smallman.  Not a small man but a credible 6th.  Note: there were some pretty good riders out to win this one.

Dan Dean 13th.  First race back after 6 months + I made him ride for 4 hours beforehand!

C grade: Glenn Quantock 5th.  Awesome effort for another ‘flat land’ rider!

Sarah Smallman 13th and 1st WOMAN!  Well done Sarah

The Mt Isobel challenge would have to be the coolest duathlon around these parts – awesome challenge, terrain, views and so handy to Chch and Hanmer.

Results:

Ben Walker: first junior mixed team.  Awesome stuff considering Ben had a crash on Wednesday night (Burwood Mtbike) racing.

Surviving the weather tips: place newspaper scrunched up inside your shoes after riding in the wet – gets them dry faster!
