John’s thoughts on how to stay dry when you’ve just got to ride

I have just arrived at work, 50 minutes into the southerly, heavy rain most of the way, but virtually dry on arrival.  Basic protection is shower cap over helmet, peaked cap under the helmet to keep rain off the glasses and hail off my face, waterproof top, waterproof gloves, waterproof ¾ overtrou.  I’m using plastic bags under booties as a makeshift foot protection (keeps socks dry), waiting for some waterproof booties to come into stock (they have to be flexible and sealable around the ankle to stop water running down).

You might get some winter training tips out of that.  The overtrou are from Ground Effect and keep my pants dry – I find them better than leg warmers.

A 2 hour ride would see some dampness coming in, but very slowly.
